Reaching students with the message of Truth through comedy, music and speaking
Remember when you were a kid in school and in every class you had that class clown? Whatever happened to that guy anyway? Imagine the craziest, goofiest guy you ever knew, and imagine what he would be like if he became a Christian. And what if he answered the call to ministry? Enter Hadley Baker—the one guy that no one thought would ever become a Christian, much less a preacher. As passionate as he is goofy, Baker has committed his life to reaching this generation for Christ. "I love making people laugh, but nothing in the world can compare to the joy of helping someone find God." Baker's primary audience is students. And he knows them as well as anyone—he is a high school social studies teacher and has been immersed into the youth culture. This has fueled his desire for ministry at Trinity Life Baptist Church, where Hadley serves as the pastor to students. Hadley is a 2000 graduate of Southwestern University (B.S. Church Ministries). He is Christie's husband and Caris' dad. The Bakers make their home in Rowlett, a suburb of Dallas.
Comedy music—the distinguishing trait of Hadley's ministry. Be it a song about your dog dying or the perils of internet dating, the music is anything but serious. Baker views his music as a tool to connect with students: "If you can make a kid laugh they will listen to anything you wanna share, including the Gospel." Many have dubbed him as a "clean version of Adam Sandler." Click the Myspace icon above to sample some of the nonsense for yourself. Listen at your own risk.
As mentioned above, Hadley's true focus is ministering to students. As a youth pastor himself, he has a tremendous belief in the power of the local church. Prior to going on staff at Trinity Life, Hadley traveled extensively as a youth evangelist, serving youth leaders in a variety of venues (Disciple Nows, youth services, conventions, camps, retreats, rallies, lock-ins, you name it). Hadley still travels and has a passion to help other youth leaders reach the students in their community.
